Recently I had my car serviced for a routine oil change at this repair facility. The mechanic left a note on my invoice saying there was a fluid leak, possibly transmission, and stating that BOTH the underside of engine AND transmission were wet and that I needed to take it to a dealer for a diagnosis. [The car is only two years old and still under power train warranty]. So that is what I did only to find out that according to the service advisor, Apple Auto should have cleaned up the underside of the engine, so he sprayed it off and cleaned it real well, that it was just a loose drain plug. He mentioned NOTHING about any fluid leak coming from the transmission and charged me $169. I was told by the dealer to return "if a leak was noticed again". So I took it back to Apple Auto since I was troubled by the fact that the underside of the engine may have been full of oil AFTER I left having my oil change done there. Since there was a week of driving done between the time of the oil change and when I took it to the dealer, as well as the time I took it back to Apple, the possibility WAS that there was a bad oil seal on the drain plug- something which the dealer should have picked up on if they did any real thoughtful troubleshooting. BJ (the owner of Apple Auto) immediately set me up to have it looked at it on a lift and discerned that this WAS indeed the case, and at his expense, re-did the oil change no questions asked with a new drain plug and seal and I waited less than an hour in an already super busy shop. He also showed me the transmission seepage which I am set up at the dealer to have hopefully repaired under warranty next Monday. I have great respect for BJ. He has an immensely accommodating spirit and great integrity and willingness to stand by his work. (They offer a 36K / 3 year warranty on all repairs which I don't think you will find ANYWHERE else too). You are treated with great respect as a customer, they actually listen to you, and if needed they will arrange for local rides back home or to pick your vehicle up when ready. Dealers often do the last of the three, but good luck on getting out of there at a reasonable time if you ARE waiting and don't expect them to faithfully communicate back to you for updates, etc. Apple Auto also has CLEAR and DETAILED invoicing - unlike your dealership. They explain everything in simple step by step terms and for the most part all charges are easily understood. But you can always ask them questions if you don't understand something. So if you are looking for reasonably priced repairs with a real sense of security in them having your backs, then try Apple Auto.
